"Zoic" VFX studio•The company behind the Visual Effects in “The 100” are also responsible for dozens of outstanding shows and films with equal amounts of incredible VFX. Shows like “V”, “Arrow” and “Falling skies” are all handled by the team at Zoic, and all with the same amount of detail and dedication. The company actually received a nomination for the VFX Emmy® with a nod for “Outstanding Visual and Special Effects”. It is currently a privately held VFX studio and was formed in 2002 by 5 partners and was originally a 15 person company who's first piece of work was on the TV Series "FireFly".
Competitors .Besides the fact that Zoic studios have worked on some big feature films and TV series, they still have some major competitors when it comes to other studios. Some of the biggest competitors consist of studios such as - "Double Negative", "Weta Digital" and "Industrial Light And Magic". Collectively, Zoic's competitors are responsible for films like "Star Wars", "Jurassic Park" and "Lord of the rings", so you can see how hard it is to keep up with them. Also, as time goes by, when a new film is being made, they might employ more than one VFX studio to work on it for them, meaning one companies position in the market might change.
Market PositionZoic definitely has made a name for themselves in recent years, but they're certainly not the very top of the market as of right now. Each time a VFX studio works on a film or TV series, the market changes in terms of who's on top and who's on bottom, so in a few years, Zoic could've helped create one of the best films of all time, and subsequently be further up at the top of the market. But at the same time, a company like "Double negative" might release a sequel to Inception, arguably one of the most visually impressive films of the last decade, and rocket straight up to the top of the market.
Other Zoic Film's or TV Series'.At the bottom of the page are a few of the other big TV Series and Films that Zoic studios have worked on in the past. Listed below are "Arrow" (TV Series), "Falling Skies" (TV Series) and "Hot Tub Time Machine" (Film), which are only a few of the big titles that Zoic have been involved with. The Arrow was nominated for 3 different awards for 3 years in a row at the Saturn awards, and has won multiple awards at other ceremonies.
Operating ModelZoic Studios is a privately held VFX studio currently spread across three cities, New York, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Lots of VFX studios are based in Canada due to things like Tax Breaks and financial reasons. Considering Zoic is one of the biggest VFX studios out there today, they only have 150 employees at most. They started up back in 2003, meaning they have been running for over a decade now, making them a long running studio.
